New Graduates
New registered nurse (RN) graduates benefit from a comprehensive, personalized support system. All RNs in their first nursing role are invited to participate in a Nurse Residency Program alongside nursing orientation. The program provides socialization and support, enhances clinical judgment, and promotes professional development.
IU Health Bedford is a Critical Access hospital serving Lawrence and surrounding counties. We are proud to be recognized by the ANCC as a Pathway to Excellence facility that is committed to creating a positive practice environment that empowers and engages our team. Our Medical Surgical unit contains 25 semi-private beds, and cares for a variety of conditions for all adult patients. The nurses on this unit administer medications, monitor vital signs, change dressings, educate patients about their procedures, and coordinate patient care plans with other healthcare professionals.
Unit Culture:
Admitting and assessing patients
Administering medications and treatments
Monitoring vital signs and symptoms
Operating and tracking medical equipment
Running and ordering tests
Coordinating care with Physicians and Specialists
Charting patient progress
Qualifications
Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
